Mother Son Night

Austin's school had a Mother-Son event...dinner and a movie. Since we had already seen the movie, Austin wanted to plan our own Mother-Son event...he had a whole list of things for us to do. We looked so forward to our special night for a couple of weeks and the day finally arrived! As soon as Austin got home from school, our night began. He had purchased a special Lego set for us to build together. (He was so sweet and even bought an "easy" set just for me.) He was a great leader in the building process...giving me instructions, asking me if I was doing enough of the building and letting me find different pieces. He is a Lego wiz, but I was actually quite proud of myself...it turned out like the picture and was really cool. The camper opens and everything...there is even a little skillet inside the camper kitchen. Then, we picked up Connor's OM teammates, dropped them off for practice and then Austin and I headed to dinner at the China Buffet...Austin's favorite! We had a nice talk over dinner and then it was time for skating...on the way, we passed the "Big K" and he asked when we could go there again...no time like the present, so we headed inside. There weren't many toys and only a few Lego's...he wasn't too impressed. But, he did manage to find some Valentines candy for school and a couple of treats for the road. We got to Sparkles Skating Rink just as they were getting ready to open. I think I've been skating once since I was about 17 and I surely cannot afford any broken bones, so I was a little bit nervous! I will say, that there were alot of kids wearing those old-fashioned 4-wheel skates...they may even be back in style for all I know! Some were wearing in-lines and Austin opted for those...of course, he learned on those...I did not! We had a GREAT time...we skated countless laps around the rink and no mis-haps! We played a few arcade games, got some prizes, skated some more, then Austin was ready to call it quits. All-in-all, a perfect Mother-Son night!! The time with Austin was priceless and makes me realize how important one-on-one time is. He is already planning our next date-night!! He is such an awesome kiddo...I love him TONS and TONS!!!
